Walk with intention

And notice every aspect of your surroundings

Hi, I’m back in Westbury after a week spent on Anglesey.

We left on Thursday, a day early, in the pouring rain with a stormfront coming in. Our last walk to see the lighthouses of South Stack and North Stack got cut short. We were soaked within minutes and the wind was blowing so strongly over the cliffs that it felt not safe to walk there.

South Stack

The rest of the week we were blessed with lovely weather.

So every day we walked.

Anglesey has a coastal path along the entire lenght of the shore. Drive to any town or beach at the cost and you can walk either to the right or to the left. The beaches are all different, some are pebbles in all shades, others are sandy.

The coast line is either rolling hills or rocky cliffs.

The paths are clearly marked and well kept, so it’s a joy to walk there.

I noticed how much I prefer walking to running. Walking gives you the time needed to truly observe your surroundings. I was amazed by the shades of green found on any pasture, the amount of different plants everywhere and the colors of the flowers.

Taking it all in slowly, quietly, with the wind tousling my hair and the sun caressing my face has been what I needed - and what I want more of going forward.

Giving yourself what you need (or think you need) is a great way to get clear on your priorities.

Knowing what you want allows you to make the changes necessary to get there. I’m pumped for the second half of the year.

And that is exactly what any vacation should give you.

xo, Yvonne

🖊️ This week's publications

I really took some time off, and only wrote and published one article last week.

🕯️Inspiration to go slow

One essential thing to live more intentionally is to quieten your living space.

Minimalism is a good way to do it. Being a minimalist does not have to mean that you are not owning anything at all, or the bare minimum. But it allows you to reduce your belongings to the point where you use everything, and - most important - love everything you surround yourself with.

The documentary «Minimalism» will give you valuable insights into this form of lifestyle.

The movie is leaving Netflix on June 15, so catch it today if you can.
